Alfreton Town 2-0 Hereford

Goals from Josh Clackstone and a fourth in two games for Danny Elliott; sealed back to back wins for the Reds as we moved to 13th in the table.

Clackstone hit a sweet strike into the bottom corner on 31 after Bobby Johnson’s inviting pass 25 yards out.

Danny Elliott would pounce on 55 to grab his fourth goal in two games after Bobby’s initial effort was parried into his path.

Alfreton started the game well following a minutes applause for Jordan Sinnott. Josh Wilde’s cross caused brief problems for Henry before the Bulls cleared.

Danny Elliott had his first sighter showing his electric pace before flashing a shot wide of the post. Bobby Johnson then had a shot blocked in the box.

Danny Clarke latched onto Wilde’s cross but was unfortunate to see his shot hit Elliott in the box. Liburd had the Bulls first chance, firing just over the bar, O’Sullivan then flashed a good effort just over the crossbar before Jordan Wright collected Finn’s shot.

Bobby tested Henry with a free kick which the Bulls keeper collected, before Amari Morgan-Smith and Elliott linked well with the latter firing wide when well placed.

The 25th minute of the game brought applause for Jordan Sinnott in another emotional moment for the club.

Then with 31 gone, Josh Clackstone opened the scoring in a game which up until then the Reds had shaded. Clackstone fired a wonderful effort into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

Hereford looked to respond, Liburd glanced a header when well placed in the box as the first half drew to a close.

Wright produced a cracking save to claw away Bray’s header early in the second half. The Reds goalie denied Hodgkiss as the Bulls pressed strongly early on in the second period.

On 55 it was 2-0 Alfreton with our first dangerous attack of the second period. Bobby showed great balance to dribble his way into the box before his shot was well saved by Henry, Elliott reacted however and converted the loose ball into the corner to give the Reds daylight.

Liburd fired over the bar before former Red Reece Styche headed over as we continued to survive but not really be dangerously hurt by the openings.

Owen-Evans struck a floated free kick onto the post as the wind played its part before Elliott was denied by Henry late on. However the Reds were well worth the three points and secured back to back wins with another good performance and defensively especially we produced a solid display.

Next, we travel to Farsley Celtic on Saturday in the National League North, kick off is 3pm.
