Alfreton Town 6-1 Gloucester City

A Danny Elliott hat-trick aswell as a brace from Bobby Johnson and a strike from Amari Morgan-Smith sealed the Reds biggest win of the season in an emotionally charged evening at the Impact Arena on Tuesday.

It was the first fixture played since the passing of former player Jordan Sinnott and it was a fitting tribute produced by Alfreton with a minute’s silence observed prior to kick off and a bucket collection also taking place.

New loan signing Danny Elliott opened the scoring after 12, latching onto a forward pass after the Tigers defender mis-read it, he finished under Jeacock before running to the bench to hold a Sinnott 25 Alfreton top aloft, a truly emotional moment.

Gloucester would equalise on 15 as McClure’s low finish found the bottom corner from outside the D. But the Reds simply were not to be denied as Amari raced onto a Bobby Johnson long ball just a minute later, to finish at the near post with a powerful strike.

We added a third on 26, Elliott grabbing his second showing electric pace to race onto Danny Clarke’s pass, get there ahead of Jeacock before rolling it into the empty net.

The second half saw Bobby make it four on 46, a long free kick from 30 yards which went all the way through and squirmed in at the far post.

Elliott completed his hat-trick on 63, showing great strength before finding himself through and then finishing low under the onrushing Jeacock.

It was six on 67, with Bobby getting his second guiding a looping header from a left wing cross by Danny Preston which went into the bottom corner to complete the rout.
