Reds make fifth new signing and eighth inclusion

Alfreton Town are pleased to confirm that centre half Toby Lees has joined the club ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, our fifth new signing of the summer and eighth member of the squad.

Toby came through the youth ranks at Harrogate Town before joining fellow National League North club Gateshead on an initial season long loan from Harrogate at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

After making 22 appearances and scoring twice, the Heed signed Toby on a permanent short team deal until the end of the season. But with the season then ended in March due to Covid-19, Lees was released upon the expiry of his contract at Gateshead in June.

Billy Heath on bringing Lees to the Reds:
“Toby came through the youth ranks at Harrogate and then made the loan move to Gateshead at the start of the 2019/20 season. He played 22 times for Gateshead last season, he’s a good age at 23 and he is another lad who is looking to progress himself.”

“I watched him last season, he is very mobile and doesn’t lack pace. Toby really wanted to come to the Impact and he will be a big part of what we are doing here. He adds good quality to us and it’s another strong signing.”

Welcome Toby!
