Reds sign Williams, Babos and Stacey after successful trials

ATFC have signed three players to the squad following their trial periods.

Alfreton Town are pleased to confirm the signings of Michael Williams, Alex Babos and Joe Stacey, following successful trials with the club following pre season.

All three players featured for the Reds during pre season with Alex and Joe unused substitutes in the Reds FA Cup win at Coalville last Saturday, all three travelled with the squad for Monday night's league opener at Curzon but were not apart of the matchday squad.

Michael, a central midfielder, was most previously at Sheffield FC last season and has had spells at both Matlock Town and Ilkeston FC. Williams has featured for the Gladiators against the Reds in the Derbyshire Senior Cup and scored 24 goals in 110 appearances for Matlock.

Alex Babos, a midfielder; came through the youth set up at Derby County and was a regular for the Rams U23s. Babos has featured for Spanish side Real Union on loan, before spending a month at FC United of Manchester during the 2019/20 season. Alex has also featured for Wales U21s, making his debut in a European Championship qualifier against Lichtenstein in July 2018.

Joe, a versatile winger had a four year spell across the pond in Virginia, United States, where he studied and played football under a scholarship programme at Bluefield College. Before returning to England, Stacey spend almost three months playing for USL2 side Dalton Red Wolves in Tennessee.
