Former forest academy product signs until the end of the season

Alfreton Town are pleased to have secured the loan signing of striker Gerry McDonagh from National League side Kidderminster Harriers until end of the season ahead of our scheduled trip to Haig Avenue to face Southport.

Following the news that Ryan Taylor has picked up a injury Reds boss Billy Heath has acted swiftly to bring in reinforcements to his forward line with the loan capture of Irish striker McDonagh.

25 year old Mc Donagh who turns 26 on the 14th of February has played for a wide array of clubs in a much travelled career. Mc Donagh started at the Nottingham Forest Academy before playing in the National League for a plethora of clubs including Wrexham,Aldershot,Tranmere,FC Halifax, Scunthorpe, Eastleigh and most recently Kiddermisnter Harriers.
Mc Donagh also enjoyed a short spell in the EFL with Cambridge United in 2017 on loan from Nottingham Forest. Mc Donagh has played over the border in Scotland for Cove Rangers and has previous experience in National League North with Kettering Town for whom he scored twice in as many appearances in 2021.
Across his many clubs MC Donagh has scored 15 goals in 118 games and the tall striker has scored once this season for parent club Harriers in a 2-1 league defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge.
