Alfreton Town have appointed a new sporting director

Alfreton Town are delighted to confirm the appointment of Nick Hawkins as new Sporting Director, who joins the club with immediate effect.

Nick, the previous chairman and owner of Nuneaton Borough as well as former Chief Operating Officer at Ilkeston Town; brings a wealth of experience into the Impact Arena.

Nick joins the Reds full of enthusiasm and excitement at the challenge presented ahead, with Alfreton’s fantastic reputation both on and off the pitch a big factor in his attraction to the football club. A lot of manpower is required to keep the club standing and driving forward, success is impossible to achieve if you can’t afford it and Nick will be ensuring that the Reds are driving forward meeting targets of expenditure and cost.

Nick’s duties will include being responsible for the management and lead of company operations, managing income and expenditure budgets, as well as working closely with the manager to achieve targets set on and off the pitch.

Chairman Wayne Bradley on Nick’s appointment:

I have made no secret, during my twenty two years of tenure, that my desires and aims are to continually drive the club towards self-financial sustainability.

The achievement of that goal is best generated from a constant focus on the operating costs of the operation. Those efforts however must be supported with ever growing income generation initiatives along with fan and community engagement activity.

The club has desires to continue to operate on a National stage and so must push on to explore, capture income and be active outside of its current parameters, whilst striving to build a feel good factor within its fan base.

The club needs manpower to help to achieve those aims. The appointment of Nick Hawkins is the latest move to help generate further focus to the balance of future club direction. Nick will undoubtedly add good energy and passion to the role. A role that will link him directly with the team manager and the community.

It is hoped that his focus will be successful and help to add further strength to the already strong base position that the club currently occupies.

Alfreton Town is proud to be free of any debt and will not endanger its good financial standing chasing on field success. That stance does not however mean that the club has no or little ambition. Far from it, but I insist on balancing the ambition within known financial positions.

The aim is therefore to broaden the financial gain to help realise the progressional desires.
I will be working closely with Nick to assist him in assisting us. I hope that the business community and supporters will join me in welcoming Nick to the club and wish him the best in his appointment.

Nick on joining Alfreton Town:

I will be involved in the day to day running of the club, both within the commercial aspect and in systems and procedure. This will be on match-days and non-match-days, my aim is to help drive this fantastic club forward and also help within the community and integrate more foundations within the club.

My two previous clubs have been challenging, as soon as I walked in it was negative but that is totally not the case here, it’s an energetic, clean and positive club which has never been in trouble and that is credit to Wayne who has done an incredible job for such a long time. To say where the club is in terms of league and magnitude, to have no debts really is a breath of fresh air to me.

I’m looking forward to travelling with the club to these big places within the league and to be able to compete with these big clubs too, I’m excited to put the hard work and commitment into place.

My message to the fans is that continue your fantastic support and keep it going, I will bring fresh ideas to us, drive the club forward and continue the ambition that is here and make us more ambitious in the future; to ensure we really compete within this league. I want to build the club off the field and build us as a football club and not just a team. I’m very open and transparent; I want to know what the fans think and welcome ideas from them, I’m very excited to be here.
