Alfreton Town make a first ever visit to Peterborough to take on Peterborough Sports in the National League North in the first of a potentially crucial Easter Bank Holiday double header on Good Friday afternoon.
With seven games to play in the league season Alfreton currently occupy the seventh place in the league table which would see them qualify for end of season play offs after back to back home victories over Spennymoor Town and Leamington at the Impact Arena.
However only 6 points separate Brackley Town in fourth to Buxton in 10th place. Billy Heath`s side will take heart from the indifferent form of those above them including Darlington and Brackley Town.
Scarborough picked up three points on Tuesday evening with a tight 1-0 win at the Bee Arena against our opponents on Good Friday and moved above the Reds in the process, the Turbines first league defeat in 8 matches.
Sports, managed by former Kings Lynn striker Michael Gash lie in the 11th place with an outside chance of the play offs and will be buoyed by the controversial news this week that they have been a granted extension to the 30th of April to get the Bee Arena up to the required for the ground grading in order for them to compete in the National League North next season.
The Peterborough based club have been one of the form teams in the league despite their off field issues and Billy Heath`s men will know that a very tough test will be awaiting them after Alfreton had to rely on a last gasp equaliser from Dom Smith to salvage a 2-2 draw when the clubs met for the first time in their histories at the Impact Arena back in September.
The Reds will know they need to improve their goalscoring away from home having found the net only twice in their last nine on the road especially with 5 of their remaining 7 fixtures away from the Impact Arena starting on Good Friday!
