Alfreton lie in eighth position on 63 points and hold two games in hand on all those above them in the play-off picture with the exception of darlington who the Reds have one game in hand on.

On a pivotal weekend in the Division with the teams from fourth position to ninth position in the league table playing each other with Buxton traveling to Scarborough and Brackley Town hosting Darlington in their penultimate home game of the campaign while Alfreton head South to take on Gloucester City in a massive clash.

Billy Heath`s men enjoyed a mixed Easter Weekend as a 2-1 win at Peterborough Sports on Good Friday was followed up by a 2-0 home defeat to Kings Lynn Town on Easter Monday who in the process went above AFC Fylde at the top of the table.

Alfreton still sit in a strong position however but we make the trip to the Tiger Turf Stadium short on full backs. Danny Preston is unlikely to feature again this season and Fleetwood Town loanee Connor Teale picked up a nasty injury against Kings Lynn while Billy Heath will check on the fitness of Josh Clackstone who has been out of action after being on the end of a robust challenge against Spennymoor Town last month.

Furthermore Alfreton will be under no illusions at the difficulty of the task ahead of them. The Reds have not won a competitive game on an artificial surface since a 90th minute winner from Craig Westcarr secured a 3-2 win at Tamworth in 2017. Victories away against Gloucester City are rare as well with us having to go all the way back to the 2009/10 season for our last victory away to the Tigers, ironically the last season we finished in the playoffs...
