Alfreton Town continue their pre-season programme on Saturday when Sky Bet League Two side Mansfield Town visit the Impact Arena for a 3pm kick off in their third outing of the summer.
Preparations for the new 2023/24 National League North campaign continue apace ahead of the curtain raiser against South Shields on the 5th of August.
Having failed to trouble the scorers in the opening four games of their last pre season schedule Two goals in as many friendlies from Jake Day back for his second spell with Alfreton has been a positive but a heavy 5-1 defeat to a dynamic Chesterfield and a 4-1 reverse against Burton Albion on Tuesday night means its a been a difficult start.
With less emphasis on results Reds manager Billy Heath however would have been pleased that his squad have got valuable minutes in the tank and have begun to build their fitness and strength.
Mansfield have only played one friendly thus far, a comfortable 8-0 demolition of Retford United as Nigel Clough`s side look to improve on narrowly missing out on the play offs by a solitary goal last term.
The two sides haven't met since a friendly in July 2021 when the Stags left the Impact Arena with a 2-1 victory.
Tom Allan had given Alfreton a 56th minute lead but two goals in the final 10 minutes from Nathan Caine and Tyreese Sinclair gave the victory to Mansfield.
