PREVIEW | Alfreton Town vs Blyth Spartans

Alfreton Town face relegation threatened Blyth Spartans at the Impact Arena in a game that could have an impact at both ends of the table

Alfreton come into this on the back of two 1-1 draws on the road. Last weekend saw us head to the Tigerturf Stadium despite holding back a relentless Gloucester side thanks to some important 1st half saves from George Willis Alfreton found themselves behind after Tope Obadeyi scored on 52 minutes.

Despite this Alfreton would find themselves level with 8 minutes to go a George Willis free kick on the halfway line found the head of Dom Smith who’s header was destined to fall into the back of the net, but was poked home by substitute Jordan Thewlis ensuring we left Gloucestershire with a valuable point.

On Tuesday night we ventured to Banbury and our 1st ever fixture in the county of Oxfordshire despite being under pressure for large parts of the game the Alfreton defence stood firm despite missing influential man Dwayne Willey.

11 minutes from time though and the hosts would take the lead, a long throw fell to Ben Radcliffe at the back post who buried the ball past Willis in goal.

Minutes later though and Jordan Thewlis would once again score the leveller. After good work from Ceesay the ball fell to Teale who crossed in to Denton, he chested it down but his shot was saved by the keeper only to fall to Thewlis who made no mistake from 6 yards out.

Blyth come into this one unbeaten in 5 and outside of the relegation spaces on goal difference. A 3-0 victory away to Fylde came before draws against faltering Darlington and inform Curzon Ashton as well as a draw against Banbury. On Tuesday night they picked up a huge 3 points against Farsley Celtic to leapfrog them out of the relegation zone and towards potential safety.
