A tough and unforgiving pre season programme comes to a close for Alfreton Town on Tuesday night at the Impact Arena as an Nottingham Forest XI visit Derbyshire.
The much anticipated start to the new 2024/25 is just days away now and with the last two scheduled friendlies against Grimsby Town and Matlock Town cancelled by the opposition Billy Heath`s men will be eager to finish on a high ahead of the curtain raiser at Southport on Saturday which is sure to be an emotionally charged occasion.
Alfreton have largely impressed in pre season dispute not achieving a result of note and have taken the lead against a number of quality EFL outfits. Most recently an Adam Lund header was enough to achieve a credible draw against newly promoted Mansfield Town.
Alfreton last faced a Nottingham Forest XI in July 2021
Brennan Johnson, who has since departed Forest to sign for Tottenham Hotspur gave the Garrabaldi a first half lead. Shaun Tuton brought Alfreton level 10 minutes in to the second half before Will Swan found the net two minutes from time to give Forest the win in front of a crowd of 805.
Alfreton will be without Dwayne Wiley who picked up an injury against Mansfield.
