Alfreton Town have really shone and looked confident in periods of all their friendlies so far this summer.
Some of the best football thus far was showcased on Tuesday by the Reds when they took the lead thanks to a goal from Trialist Number 9 and restricted a Chesterfield side full of top names and National League Promotion winners to a single shot at goal in a highly impressive first half performance. Chesterfield fought back to record a 2-1 win but there were plenty of positives for manager Billy Heath to take.
The Reds will probably welcome a different time of test when Northern Premier League Premier Division neighbours Ilkeston Town make the short journey to the Impact Arena.
A stern examination of Alfreton`s promotion credentials is still expected however.
Ilkeston Town are under the stewardship of former Long Eaton United manager Ian Deakin and finished in a mid table position of 11th in the NPL Premier Last season. Ian Deakin will be looking to improve on this for the forthcoming campaign.
Ilkeston started their pre-season programme with a 3-1 home defeat to Hallam on July 6th. This was followed by a 2-2 draw at local neighbours Kimberley Miners Welfare and most recently their first win of pre season was secured thanks to a 5-0 at Skegness Town on Saturday.
Kick off at the Impact Arena is 3pm and tickets are available online on TicketPass or on the gate
