As the huge Emirates FA Cup tie against Walsall gets closer Alfreton Town have two important league matches before their date of destiny with the Saddlers on December 2nd starting with the visit of Chester FC to the Impact Arena in the National League North on Tuesday night.
A run of fourth successive victories has been followed by a run of three matches without a win with the Reds keen to get back on track and collect potentially crucial league points.
Alfreton were eliminated from the FA Trophy on Saturday when Macclesfield made a return visit to the Impact Arena after an FA Cup tie between the clubs earlier in the season. On this occasion however it was the Silkmen who advanced through to the next round. Goals from Jake Day and a first goal for the club from loanee Dylan Mottley overturned an early deficit as the Reds led at half time but three second half goals without reply won the game for Macclesfield.
As they return back to the bread of butter of the National League North Alfreton lie in 6th place in the league standings ahead of the match. Our opponents Chester languish in 16th but have a number of games in hand on their rivals including two on Billy Heath`s men. Ironically Chester were also knocked out of the FA Trophy by lower league opposition that they have also met in the FA Cup this season in Nantwich Town. With the Blues knocked on penalties after a goalless draw.
Chester are managed by Callum McIntyre and are hoping to improve on last season`s agonising play off semi final defeat to Brackley Town.
Alfreton Town`s record against Chester doesnt make for grim reading to put it mildly. the Reds have no wins in 8 meetings between the clubs at this level with just a solitary victory in 12 total meetings coming against the Cestrians via a Shaun Harrad penalty in the Skrill Premier way back in March 2014. That victory famously took Ofton above Cambridge United into 2nd place in the Conference Premier before the reds were controversially handed a three point deduction.

Parking at the Impact Arena is incredibly limited. We recommend the pay and display parking on Rogers Lane, DE55 7FF and also at Severn Square, DE55 7BT - both are a five to ten minute walk to and from the Impact Arena.
Please be considerate of residents on the estate next to the arena, particularly Connaught Court, Bentley Close and North Street. We ask supporters to avoid parking in the residential areas around the ground and instead ask that you follow the advice and park in the pay and display car parks
