The tough challenges continue for Alfreton Town as the pre season programme continues apace on Saturday with the visit of SkyBet League One Side Barnsley to the Impact Arena.
Billy Heath`s men put in a really strong showing on Tuesday night to secure a well deserved share of the spoils with Notts County of League Two. The Magpies fielded a strong side particularly in the first which Alfreton more than matched for long periods and arguably created the better chances. New signing Jed Abbey opened the Reds account for pre season with a freekick. Notts County levelled the scores thanks to a Trialist before Alfreton nudged ahead once more thanks to the returning Ahmed Salam before an OG brought the visitors level minutes later as the game finished 2 apiece
Barnsley last visited North Street in preparation for the 2012/13 season when a Craig Davies double secured the Tykes a 2-1 victory with a trialist finding the net for Ofton.
Barnsley are heading in to their third season in League One and qualified for the play offs last season before being knocked out by Bolton Wanderers. Darrell Clarke has been named the new manager of the Tykes ahead of the new season, no stranger to the impact Arena having brought Port Vale and Walsall here.
Kick off at the Impact Arena is 3pm on Saturday
