Reds look for tonic from league action in Derby Senior Cup Semi Final

Alfreton Town take a much needed break from their struggles in the National League to contest a first Derbyshire Senior Cup Semi Final for the first time in six seasons.
The last occasion was Billy Heath`s first season in charge in 2018 when the Reds beat local rivals Matlock Town and went on to defeat tomorrow night`s opponents Mickleover 2-1 in the showpiece final at Pride Park.

Another final at Pride Park is the prize on offer for the victor tomorrow night against the winner of the other semi final between National League North side Buxton and Derby County Under 21s.
The Bucks have dominated the competition in recent years beating Derby County Under 21s in 2022/23 and Heanor Town last year to become the out right winner of the Cup the most times with 12, to Ofton`s 10.

A win over Ilkeston Town earned thanks to an early Liam Waldock strike gave Alfreton passage through to the semi finals while our opponents Mickleover enjoyed a commanding 4-0 away win at lowly Clay Cross Town of the United Counties League Division One.

Its been a tough campaign for Mickleover FC this season as "Sports" sit second bottom of the Northern Premier League Premier Division under the management of Gareth Holmes.
They have 28 points from 33 games played and are 8 points from safety with 9 league games to play.
Mickleover have sustained Step 3 football for 10 consecutive seasons to their credit enjoying their most success in a two year stint in the Southern League Premier Central.

Alfreton head into the game following a disappointing draw against Warrington Town when two goals from the visitors saw the Reds forced to settle for only a point from a game they had completely dominated for 80 minutes.
The Reds will see the game as a good chance to enjoy the winning feeling before return full focus to their search for league points to keep themselves out of any trouble.
