MATCH PREVIEW: Kings Lynn Town FC v Alfreton Town FC

Towerzey Lisa12 Dec 2024 - 21:45

Reds travel to Linnets knowing a win could take Heath`s men to second place

The big games continue to come thick and fast for Alfreton Town as they head to Norfolk to face Kings Lynn Town on Saturday for the first meeting of the season with a club they have previously played in the league this campaign.

Way back in August, Alfreton notched their maiden win of the season against the Linnets of Kings Lynn. Goals from David Moyo, Liam Wadock and Billy Fewster secured an eye catching 3-0 success over Adam Lakeland`s men- Alfreton`s first win over Lynn for over 8 years.

The Reds have a generally poor record against the Norfolk side so the opportunity to record a league double over Lynn would be quite an achievement.

After a sluggish start in the early weeks of the season Kings Lynn head in to Saturday`s clash in second place in the league table. its fair to say the league championship is wide open this year with Curzon Ashton heading the pack as we head in to the festive period.

After a hard fought home win over relegation threatened Marine on Tuesday at the Impact, The Reds climbed back in to the play off places with an impressive 33 points from 19 games played thus far.

There is a potential huge prize on offer should the Reds claim all three points on Saturday - a win could send Billy Heath`s side to the dizzy heights of second place in the National League North.

The Walks has not been a happy hunting ground for Ofton with Alfreton without a league win there in five visits although the Reds did win a FA Cup Third Qualifying Rd tie there back in 2016 thanks to a brace from former Gibraltian striker Adam Priestley.

Lynn have won three successive home games against Southport, Kidderminster and Scarborough to steady the ship after a series of defeats on the road which included exiting the FA Trophy at the hands of Leamington.
