Just 10 days after dumping Spennymoor out of the Emirates FA Cup in a fiesty encounter, Alfreton Town are set to do battle with Moors again in DE55 again this time in National League North on Matchday 12 of the 2024/25 season.
Alfreton are full of confidence and a formidable proposition for anyone at the moment. Liam Waldock made it three goals in his last three appearances for the Reds as his late late, winner against Chorley sealed a gigantic three points for Billy Heath`s men who continue to go from strength to strength since opening day defeat against Southport.
The Reds have had a difficult start playing nine members of the top 12 in their fixtures so far but despite this sit in a strong position in fourth and should results land favourably tomorrow Alfreton could even go top of the league. This is Alfreton`s last scheduled home game for over a month where Billy Heath`s charges are 23 home matches dating back to 25th November 2023.The stats speak for themselves. Ofton have not lost a game for 10 weeks and have only conceded two goals in the last nine games. Indeed Saturday's hard fought 1-0 win over rivals Chorley made it five clean sheets in a row for the first time since Boxing Day 2022 v Buxton to Kettering on the 28th of January 2023 .
Spennymoor, still smarting from what they saw as a controversial defeat in the final qualifying of the FA Cup only 10 short days ago arrive in Derbyshire fresh from an extra days rest after beating troubled Farsley Celtic 3-0 away from home on Friday night. Graeme Lee`s side will be keen to enact a revenge for that defeat but will knock they are coming up against a very solid Alfreton side.
Spennymoor are the most inform side alongside Ofton by taking nine points from their last five league games and boost National League North top scorer Isaac Fletcher ( 8 goals) in their ranks along with prolific Marksmen Glen Taylor who scored a brace in the Farsley victory on Friday evening.
