Match Preview: Alfreton Town v Kidderminster Harriers

Reds look for home comforts against Harriers as they search for first win in four

Alfreton will begin a busy November with the rare luxury of a Saturday afternoon home game. It will be our first in some six weeks, as they entertain Kidderminster Harriers, in Enterprise National League North action.

After a disappointing visit to local rivals Buxton last weekend, which saw the Reds suffer a 6-0 defeat, Alfreton will be pleased to return home, where they have lost only one of their last four league games.

Jake Buxton is still searching for his first win as Alfreton Town boss. However, the upcoming fixtures look daunting, with Alfreton set to face four of the current top 10 in their next four games, beginning with the visit of Kidderminster Harriers to the Impact on Saturday.

Harriers sit just inside the playoff places after a patchy start to the 2025/26 season. Having been just one win away from promotion on the final day of last season, only to suffer playoff heartbreak soon after - it’s been an underwhelming start to the new campaign for the Worcestershire outfit. Following the departure of Phil Brown, Harriers appointed former Eastbourne manager Adam Murray after his impressive season on the South Coast. Murray also brings prior National League North experience from his time with Boston United and AFC Fylde.

After a run of five league games without a victory, back-to-back 1-0 wins - away at Merthyr Town and at home to Spennymoor in their most recent outing, have eased the pressure on Murray and lifted Harriers back into the playoff places.

Reds boss Jake Buxton will know that if Alfreton are to drag themselves out of the relegation zone, the Impact Arena must once again become a fortress and a difficult place for opponents to visit. With further home games looming against free-scoring AFC Fylde and Spennymoor, Buxton will be eager to prevent the situation from worsening and to ensure the Reds don’t become cut adrift at the foot of the table.

After a disappointing performance at Buxton, the Reds will be eager to make amends on Saturday in front of the Ofton faithful.
