Alfreton Town welcome Darlington FC to the impact Arena on Tuesday night on Match Day 30 in National League North as the club are set to make their debut in front of the live DAZN cameras.
After a poor run of form of late which saw the Reds suffer 6 defeats in 7 games Billy Heath men would have been buoyed by a commanding 2-0 win away at Scarborough on Saturday in their last league outing. Indeed the win made it back to back away wins for Ofton after a recently comfortable 4-1 win over crisis hit Farsley Celtic,
An early goal from Lewis Salmon which took his season tally to eight set Alfreton on their way against the Seadogs of Scarborough. Alfreton defended with really authority with goalkeeper Jake Askew newly added to the side rarely tested other than a long distance shot which he saved superbly just before half time. Adam Anson`s scored his second goal of the season in the second half to seal the victory which took Alfreton back up to 11th in the table seven points adrift of Curzon Ashton in the final play off place.
Alfreton will be eager to improve their home form as soon as possible.
After having one of the best records in the league a run of 2 wins in 8 and more recently 4 straight defeats has seen the Impact lose its label as a fortress.
Consecutive home games against Darlington and Kidderminster will be far from easy to end that run however.
A run of just two defeats in the last 15 games for Steve Watson`s Quakers has seen Darlo recover from a sluggish start to well in the play off picture in 10th place. One place and three points above Ofton.
Indeed a win for Alfreton by a two goal margin or more will see the Reds leap frog their opponents in the league table
Darlington come in to the game on the back of a 3-1 home win over Marine secured thanks to a brace of Cedric Main penalties.
Alfreton are still awaiting their first home win over Darlington in National League North at the 9th attempt. (D4 L4)
So arguably their could be no better occasion than this with the Cameras watching to record a first home win of 2025!
