We have entered the home straight of the 2024/25 season with just two games remaining. Alfreton complete their home fixture programme with the visit of Derbyshire rivals Buxton.
Its a swift renewal of hostilities against the Bucks after the recent Derbyshire Senior Cup Final success that the Reds enjoyed less than a week ago.
Billy Heath`s started their East bank Holiday double header with a 0-0 draw at another play off hopeful in Curzon Ashton which dented the hopes of the Nash. The result saw Buxton leapfrog the Nash in to the final play off place with just two games to go after a hard fought and impressive 1-0 win over Chorley on Good Friday.
Alfreton head in to the game have stabilized themselves comfortably in mid table after a really poor dip in form earlier in the campaign. Billy Heath`s side sit 14th and could finish as high as 13th come the end of the season on Saturday should other results go their way.
The unbeaten run now sits at six matches and its just one defeat for Ofton in their last nine outings in all competitions .
The Reds will be eager to finish a mixed campaign on a high at home and in the process derail the Buxton play off bid.
There are no new injury concerns for Billy Heath who handed a debut from the bench to Canadian Striker Jeremy Opong on Good Friday. Opong put in an impressive showing with some good touches including setting up a late shooting opportunity for Liam Waldock after chasing a lost cause four minutes from the end of the match.
There are just three points between fifth and ninth in the play off race ahead of Matchday 45 while Kidderminster and Brackley are locked together on 86 points with two games to play. Kiddy lead the league thanks to their superior goal difference but face a tricky examination bitter rivals and play off challengers Hereford FC.
