Match Preview - Alfreton Town v Quorn AFC

Reds set for meeting with Quorn AFC in final test ahead of new league campaign

Alfreton Town conclude their pre-season fixture programme on Saturday with the visit of Southern League Central Premier Division new boys Quorn AFC to the Impact Arena.

The Leicestershire based outfit are about to embark on their maiden season at Step 3 after they were crowned champions of the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands last season, with an impressive 103 points and just a single league defeat.

Quorn FC have continued their strong vein of form this pre-season and are yet to taste defeat this summer. Victories have been recorded against Newark and Sherwood United, Corby Town, Shepshed Dynamo and OJM Black Country alongside draws against National League side Tamworth, Hinckley AFC and Anstey Nomads.

Quorn AFC are managed by Ryan Beswick, who took charge in May 2025 following the resignation of former boss Ant Carney, who stepped down after guiding the club to a title-winning campaign last season.

Quorn AFC boast a number of ex Ilkeston players in their playing squad including Reece Fyfe, Zack Goodson alongside Paddy Webb who has previously wore the shirt of local side Eastwood Community FC in his career.

Billy Heath’s Reds head into the contest on the back of their first win of pre-season against a feisty and confrontational Stoke City U23 side. The Potters finished the match with two red cards and seven yellow cards in a fiercely contested friendly.

Gerry McDonagh was on hand for Ofton as his brace inspired Heath’s men to a 2-1 victory - his first goals since joining the club

Alfreton Town will be eager to maintain their winning momentum in their first friendly against a side lower down the football pyramid, as they build toward the much-anticipated curtain-raiser to the new Enterprise National League North season away at newly promoted Bedford Town, a week from Saturday.
