Its back to the rigours of the National League North on Saturday for Alfreton Town as they host Blyth Spartans looking for a big three points to get their play off push back on track.
A herculean effort over 180 minutes against EFL side Walsall was not quite enough after Jamile Matt`s fortunate goal following a deflection gave the Saddlers a tight 1-0 win last time out which saw them advance to play Southampton in the Third Round of the FA Cup.
The Reds however can be extremely proud of their efforts as they represented National League North brilliantly and threw everything at the Saddlers throughout the tie. Roared on by a fantastic and passionate away support Alfreton won a total of 10 corners and put the West Midlands side under pressure but the ball just wouldn't quite fall for that guilt edged chance. Jordan Thewlis went closest to that precious goal but his long range pile driver was tipped round the post by Jackson Smith.
No doubt delighted with the club's superb FA Cup run Billy Heath will be keen to refocus the players on the job at hand in the league. The Reds sit in 10th in the National League North Standings on 29 points from 19 games played. They are four points adrift of Hereford who occupy the final play off place but do hold three games in hand on the Bulls. Alfreton are four league winless and six without a win in all competitions with boss Heath under no illusions at the importance of this game in his post match comments following the FA Cup exit to Walsall.
Saturdays fixture is the first time Ofton will be meeting a club for the second time this campaign. Indeed the squad will have the opportunity to record a league double over Spartans following a 3-1 win in the North East back in September. Goals from Liam Waldock, Lewis Salmon and an unforgettable solo effort from Kennedy Digie sealed a convincing victory. Billy Heath`s men will go in search of a first league Double over Blyth since the 2017/18 season when an opening day win under the management of John Mc Dermott was followed up by an away win at Croft Park under the stewardship of Chris Moyses

Parking at the Impact Arena is incredibly limited. We recommend the pay and display parking on Rogers Lane, DE55 7FF and also at Severn Square, DE55 7BT - both are a five to ten minute walk to and from the Impact Arena.
Please be considerate of residents on the estate next to the arena, particularly Connaught Court, Bentley Close and North Street. We ask supporters to avoid parking in the residential areas around the ground and instead ask that you follow the advice and park in the pay and display car parks
