Reds start trophy defence tomorrow night against the Lions

Alfreton Town will be looking to bounce back after recent poor form, with the visit of Heanor Town in the Derbyshire Senior Cup Third Round tomorrow night. Kick off at the Impact Arena is 7.45pm.

The Reds slump has seen us move from fourth in the National League North to ninth, with Spennymoor handing the Reds another defeat on Saturday; with a 2-0 success at the Impact.

Alfreton struggled throughout the game to have sustained periods of pressure and control with the Moors dominant on the ball and in terms of chance creation in the contest. The Reds had their moments with Danny Clarke hitting the bar in the second half but it was a disappointing display overall with Rob Ramshaw's double with a goal in either half, wrapping up the points.

Billy Heath will be looking for his side to re-discover their form and confidence and return to winning ways after a string of results which has seen us win just one of our last seven games in all competitions.

Impact Arena form has taken a dip with the Reds losing the last three league games at home. Our last win came against Curzon (3-2) back in early September.

Heanor Town arrive to us looking to cause a big upset and have started the season fantastically, the Lions are currently second in the East Midlands Counties League with 25 points from nine games and are unbeaten in the league this season (W8, D1).

Heanor will fancy themselves with the visitors winning their last ten games in all competitions. Their last outing saw progression in the FA Vase as they won at West Bridgford 2-0 on Saturday.

The Reds will be looking to hand the Lions only a second defeat of the season with Heanor's only defeat thus far, being in the FA Cup at AFC Mansfield 2-1 on 3rd September.

A Danny O'Brien double sealed a tenth DSC title in our last venture in the competition back in April. The show-piece final, played at Derby County's Pride Park; saw a competitive final with the Reds taking the lead, only to be pegged back in the second half before O'Brien grabbed his second late on to secure the trophy.
