Adam Lund - “We will do all we can to win”

Jacob Hackett18 Apr 2022 - 09:12

An interview with Adam Lund

Ahead of the Reds’ meeting York City, Adam Lund spoke to the club’s media regarding recent form, what he expects from the Minstermen and Alfreton’s play-off ambitions.

Billy Heath’s men are currently five games unbeaten in the National League North, registering three wins and two draws in their last five outings. Unsurprisingly, Lund recognises the confidence boost that such a run has granted the squad.

“Our confidence is very high at the moment, we have hit some good form,” said the midfielder.

“Also it’s not just about the wins, but it’s the teams we have beaten.

“Chorley, Kidderminster and Hereford are three very big teams in this division, so that is extra confidence for us.

“Hopefully we can use this form and confidence to win as many games as we can out of the five left to play, and you never know where we can finish.”

The Reds’ impressive form has coincided with an extended string of starts for Lund in a revised position, something that the 23-year-old is ‘loving’.

“[I am] over the moon to be playing week in, week out.

“I am playing in a different position to what I thought I would be, but I am loving playing in the central midfield role.

“I am developing personally game by game, and hopefully I can keep my spot for the rest of the season and carry my form into next season also.”

Lund is aware of the challenge that York pose, but insists that it will be nothing new for Alfreton to cope with.

“I expect an extremely tough game. York are a full-time team, who like to move teams around by passing the football around.

“However, it is nothing we have not come up against before and we will impose our style of play on them and see if they can cope with us.”

With five games remaining, the Reds’ recent form has reignited ambitions of finishing the season in the play-off spots; something that Lund states was always the aim.

“The play-offs have been the aim all season.

“To be honest, two months ago it wasn’t looking likely at all, but after our recent form we are in with a chance.

“We have a game in hand on the six teams above us, and if we win that we will [then be] four points off the play-offs,”

Lund concluded with a promise to supporters;

“As a team we will do all we can to win our remaining games and see where we end up.”

Lund & Co. host the Minstermen at 3:00pm on Monday afternoon, be sure to secure your place at the Impact Arena and cheer on the boys for the final stretch of the campaign!
